Coalition for the Homeless - Coalition for the Homeless is the nation's oldest and most progressive advocacy and direct service organization helping homeless men, women, and children. To achieve lasting solutions to homelessness, the Coalition has developed a continuum of eleven direct service programs that engages homeless people, stabilizes them and moves them into permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

Habitat for Humanity - Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization. Since 1976, Habitat has built more than 125,000 houses in more than 80
countries, including some 45,000 houses across the United States.

Homeless People's Discussion Network - An international bulletin board for homeless and formerly homeless people.

National Coalition for the Homeless - NCH focuses its work in the following 4 areas: housing justice, economic justice, health care justice, and civil rights. Its approaches are: grassroots organizing, public education, policy advocacy, technical assistance, and partnerships.

New York City Administration for Children's Services - ACS's mission is to ensure the safety and well-being of all the children of New York. Its aim is to transform NYC child welfare services into a neighborhood-based system where children and families get the services they need close to home. Topical links can be found on a range of services, including supportive housing for youth aging out of foster care.

New York City Department of City Planning - The Department of City Planning is responsible for the City's physical and socioeconomic planning, including land use and environmental review; preparation of plans and policies; and provision of technical assistance and planning information to government agencies, public officials, and community boards.

New York City Department of Homeless Services - DHS, in partnership with public and private agencies, provides temporary emergency shelter for eligible homeless people in a safe, supportive environment.

New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development - Using a variety of preservation, development and enforcement strategies, HPD strives to improve the availability, affordability and quality of housing in New York City. As the nation's largest municipal housing agency, HPD works with private, public and community partners to strengthen neighborhoods and enable more New Yorkers to become homeowners or to rent well-maintained, affordable housing.

New York City Department of Youth & Community Development - Information on homeless and runaway youth programs.

New York City Human Resources Administration - Towards its mission of assisting clients to attain their maximum degree of self-reliance, the Human Resources Administration helps New Yorkers in need to find work to support themselves and their families. In collaboration with a network of service providers, HRA assesses the skills of its clients and assigns them to activities that will move them towards employment.

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees - This agency is mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect refugee and homelessness issues worldwide.

United Neighborhood Houses of New York, Inc. - UNH is the umbrella organization for settlement houses throughout New York City. UNH serves to unify the settlement houses' collective efforts to achieve social reform and to provide a voice for the low-income and disenfranchised residents of settlement house communities
