Dear Friends,
Each year, Covenant House New York must raise (privately) 70% of its annual budget to ensure that our young people receive the needed services to gain independence. With the cost of living increasing each year (i.e. food, electricity, and gas), we must find new ways to branch out to donors while exploring new fundraising events. This past month, with the help of our friends from The Blue Hill Troupe and The Young Professionals Committee, Covenant House New York received a great deal of support that will go a long way in providing services to our youth. First, The Blue Hill Troupe selected us as their annual charity to donate all the proceeds from their theatre productions throughout the year. They performed Mama (fall performance) and Princess Ida (spring performance). Both shows were well received and the support that The Blue Hill Troupe provided our Mother/Child Program was extremely valuable. Second, our Young Professional Committee held a ‘Spring Cleaning’ fundraiser that allowed individuals to donate business attire and everyday clothes to our young people. As you might not know, many of our kids come to Covenant House will only a few items of clothing. This event was a huge success and we received a great deal of clothing. In addition, our Young Professional Committee will be hosting a fundraiser, known as ‘Party for a Purpose’ on April 26th. We look forward to another great turnout and are thankful for all of those who have made this committee a huge success. Finally, I would like to share with you a recent WNBC segment that appeared on April 17th. Carol Anne Riddell, WNBC reporter, visited Covenant House and sat down with Georgia Boothe, Associate Executive Director, and a few of our young people to learn more about our services and the progress our kids make while with us. Sincerely,

Bruce Henry
